The story is set in colonial India and in England in 1906 and tells the story of a young English girl, Mary Lennox, who is forced to return to a dreary manor, filled with sorrow and secrets, where she is to live with her Uncle Archibald. What appears to be a hopeless and dreary existence finds one bright spot when Mary discovers the secret garden of the estate neglected for decades and the discovery of her cousin, suffering like neglect. In this heart-warming, Toni and Drama Desk award winning musical, Mary brings life not only to the garden, but also to all those around her.
