User Policy

General Usage:

The person whose name is used to issue a username/password is responsible at all times for its proper use. Users are not to share usernames/passwords with others.

Any/all accounts may be suspended or revoked by SEI Data administration at any time, without prior notice or hearing, for abusive conduct or violation of the conditions of use set forth in this document. SEI DATA will be the sole arbiter of what constitutes abusive conduct or violation of the SEI DATA acceptable use policy.

Users must respect all copyright laws and licensing agreements pertaining to software, files, or other resources obtained via the SEI Data Internet connection.

SEI DATA reserves the right to review any material stored in files to which all SEI Data account users have access, and will remove any material which, in its opinion, does not comply with this document.

Spam/UCE/UBE is strongly prohibited. SEI Data does, and will continue to, implement anti-spam/relay filters. These filters are updated regularly to block unwanted spam from our system. Users who choose to send spam from or through any system on the SEI Data network are in direct violation of this document and may have their account(s) suspended or revoked.

SEI Data is a community network. The resources of our system(s) are shared by all of our users. System processes which consume inordinate amounts of available resources at the expense of others are to be avoided. Programs which run continuously while unattended are not permitted (i.e. "Eggdrops"). SEI Data reserves the right to kill any process utilizing excessive amounts of CPU time.

Malicious programs such as "mailbombers", "flodders," collision bots, etc. may not be ran from SEI Data's systems. If you wish to administer "bots" or network utilities with questionable motives, you should do so from your own system.

Minor Use:

While the mission of SEI DATA is to provide open and equal access to ideas and information to all members of the community, it is important to specifically differentiate Internet use by minors, as there are inherent dangers therein.

  1. SEI DATA supports parents and guardians in their efforts to guide their own children's access to print, non-print, and online information.
  2. Use of the Internet through the SEI DATA connection is a privilege, and access is voluntary.
  3. SEI DATA believes that the benefits of access to information resources provided through the Internet outweigh the potential disadvantages of such access.
  4. SEI DATA seeks to preserve minor's status as full members of the Internet community.
  5. SEI DATA cannot control the resources on the Internet. The Internet is not a static entity. It changes each minute as new information is added and old information deleted.
      a) Some Internet sites may contain information which is inaccurate, defamatory, illegal, obscene, or potentially offensive to some.
      b) It is technically impossible for SEI DATA to prevent direct access to all materials which might be objectionable to some people.
  6. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to determine whether to place restrictions on their own children with regard to use of the Internet.
  7. Parents/guardians are responsible for their own children's behavior while using their SEI Data access to the Internet. SEI DATA assumes no liability for inappropriate conduct or acts conducted on the Internet by minors.
  8. SEI DATA reserves the right to deny Internet access to any minor who is found to violate the General Internet Usage Policies adopted by the Board of Directors of SEI Data, or their designees.
